Probe continues in Pittsgrove accident that killed 2, injured

A New Jersey man and his 5-year-old son were killed and the man's 3-year-old daughter seriously injured in a car accident on the morning of May 9 in Pittsgrove Township. According to investigators, the father was driving his children to daycare when he crossed the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer.

The father, 37, and son were both killed. The young daughter's medical condition was initially reported as critical, but has since been upgraded to stable. The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured. The car accident is still under investigation, but authorities say that there may have been a significant aggravating factor that contributed to the tragic deaths and injuries in this case.

New Jersey judge asked to expand liability in motorcycle accident

The case of a New Jersey couple who both suffered severe injuries after a 2009 motorcycle accident is still in court to determine the level of negligence that may be assigned to a person who wasn't present at the crash. Two years after a motorcycle accident changed the lives of the couple, the courts are still working on deciding the issue of full negligence.

In 2009, a 19-year-old male driving a pickup truck crashed into the motorcycle carrying the married couple. The pair sustained life-altering injuries. The male biker lost his left leg above the knee in the accident, while his wife later lost one of her legs below the knee. Investigation revealed that the pickup driver was responding to a text message from a 19-year-old female friend on his cell phone when he veered into oncoming traffic and struck the motorcycle.

New Jersey truck accident prompts lawsuit from victim's parents

A tragic accident in February left several young students injured and one dead after a school bus failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and an overweight dump truck collided. The parents of three of the students including the one whose life was lost in the New Jersey truck accident have now filed suit against the companies and drivers involved in the accident. Their two surviving children and another child injured in the accident were critically injured and will need ongoing treatment.

While their ongoing physical treatment might be hard to deal with, sadly the girls involved also had to see their triplet sister die in the accident. This emotionally and physically traumatic event has without a doubt changed the family forever. For most people, the pain involved in losing a child is unimaginable. Losing a family member in an accident that could have been prevented is even more difficult.

New Jersey makes road rage car accident penalties tougher

We've all seen the angry drivers on the road at some point in our lives. People losing their cool behind the wheel can be a scary situation. Many times driving at a high rate of speed and someone losing control of their temper can have a devastating consequence. Those who cause car accidents during road rage will now face tougher penalties under New Jersey law. They could spend as long as 5 years in prison and face hefty fines.

This will hopefully teach some drivers to keep their temper under control in hopes of saving lives. However, many people with true anger issues get caught in the heat of the situation and accidents happen before they realize what is going on. While this law may cause some people to think twice before they become retaliatory with their vehicles, accidents will likely still happen because of road rage.

Port Authority of New Jersey: motorcycle accident kills one in Lincoln Tunnel

Motorcyclists love the free feeling and thrill associated with riding. Many times, they can enjoy the ride feeling safe. However, sometimes, drivers fail to see motorcyclists, and the results can be deadly.

Unfortunately, over the weekend, a motorcycle accident killed one man in the Lincoln Tunnel between New Jersey and New York. The motorcycle reportedly collided with a cab, and the many died at a hospital. Now, his family will have to grieve the loss of their loved one.

New Jersey truck accidents preventable with speed limiters

Big rigs barreling down New Jersey highways can be scary for some drivers, especially those in small cars. The fear of these trucks isn't without good reason. Many times truck drivers exceed the speed limit in New Jersey, increasing the likelihood of getting into a devastating truck accident. Accidents with a semi-truck can do significant damage to other vehicles.

Commercial drivers are often paid by the mile, not by the hour. Therefore, the faster they deliver their products, the more jobs they can pick up, increasing their paychecks. An increase in pay for truck drivers sometimes comes at the expense of safety of others on the road. A new study has found that speed limiter devices installed in commercial trucks can greatly reduce their likelihood of an accident.

New Jersey pedestrian accident injures three

Three people ended up being airlifted to a hospital late last month after being struck by a pickup truck. The New Jersey pedestrian accident occurred after two woman and two children were crossing the street near a bus stop. The women have just got off the bus when a man hit them.

The driver is not believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or have been speeding at the time of the accident, but the injuries incurred were no less severe. The one child that wasn't airlifted to a hospital was released from a hospital with only minor injuries.

Alleged New Jersey drunk driver injures other motorist

Drunk driving can have devastating effects. We all understand the consequences, but most of us don't imagine we will ever be affected by an accident involving a drunk driver, until it happens. Drunk drivers can easily lose control of a vehicle, causing severe injuries and even death to others on the road.

One alleged New Jersey drunk driver has now been charged after crashing her car into another vehicle over the weekend. The driver of the other vehicle involved was taken to a regional medical center and was listed in critical condition. It is likely the injured man will endure a long recovery because of his injuries.

Two die in New Jersey pedestrian accident, police look for driver

Two people are dead after a hit-and-run in New Jersey last weekend. The pedestrian accident killed a New Jersey woman and a man from another state. Authorities are now looking for the person who hit the two people early Saturday.

One person did witness the accident but said that the driver left the scene too quickly to provide a description of the vehicle. While police search for a suspect, the families of the two people who died are likely going through the grieving process and have a lot of questions as to how this happened.

New Jersey drivers beware this St. Patrick's Day weekend

With St. Patrick's Day festivities already among us, and with the holiday taking place over a Saturday night, law enforcement officials are gearing up for the worst. Last year during the St. Patrick's Day weekend five motorists and three pedestrians were killed in New Jersey. This year, the New Jersey state police have already ramped up efforts to prevent drunk driving accidents on New Jersey's highways.

Anyone who is hoping to celebrate St. Patrick's Day should have a plan for how they will be getting home safely. The following advice may help to prevent accidents this holiday weekend:

• Use mass transit whenever possible

• Call a taxi or car service

• Report drunk drivers to the police

• Never let friends drink and drive

• Take the keys away from someone who is intoxicated and arrange a ride home for them

• Use seat belts
